Deck Plans, Activities & Sailings

If you make a reservation through the app, you'll receive a notification to report to the host stand when your table is ready. On my sailing, I stayed in a balcony cabin, which was elegantly decorated in neutrals with blue accents. I appreciated touches like ample vanity mirror lighting, adjustable shelving in the closets and a surplus of USB outlets throughout the room, including near the vanity and beside the bed.

Day Cruises

I happened to be sitting at a table in the area when the festivities kicked off. I decided to stay to see what it was all about, and I'm sorry I did. As costumed Dr. Seuss characters arrived, Carnival staff asked the children to scream solely for the sake of screaming. Ear-piercing shrieks reverberated throughout the space, which was also blocked off to passengers trying to pass through. It's an added-fee experience during which passengers (one to two people per ride) zoom twice around the track on a motorcycle-style vehicle that allows you to throttle up or down to a speed that suits you. Surrounding the stage are tons of seating options, as well as JavaBlue Cafe, which serves coffee and snacks; Cherry on Top candy shop; the Center Stage and Grand View Bars; and Bonsai Sushi and Teppanyaki.

Entertainment and Activities

Carnival offers up a spot for kids to hang out and play in a supervised setting, known as Camp Ocean. Here, you can drop off kids aged 2-11 (there are also teen hangouts onboard as well that kids can come and go as they please) to play while parents enjoy themselves around the ship. We’re in no way advocating that you let your children run wild across the ship. If your kids aren’t responsible or mature enough to be on their own, then keep an eye on them. That said, cruise ships are good places to let them gain some independence and freedom.

Junior Suite

There was also a USB port (non-lightning) on either side of the bed, just below the reading lamp. Passengers can carry on one bottle of wine or Champagne per person (21 years and older); this will incur a $15 corkage fee for consumption in public areas. Each person can also bring up to 12 standard cans or cartons of nonalcoholic beverages like juice or soda.

But many people don’t realize that the quick-eatery also serves up breakfast tacos and burritos. Stop by and get some eggs and bacon wrapped in a warm tortilla instead of munching on pancakes and cereal in the buffet. It can be a time to wind down under the stars or it can be a time to get the party going. Regardless of your preference, you’ll discover new activities every evening that offer the perfect accompaniment to your daily thrills. Take part in the spa delights at Spa Carnival and Cloud 9 Spa and enjoy massages, facials and much much more.

Imagine eight of the biggest, burliest, hairiest passengers all stripping their shirts and dancing to win the crown for the contest. Be sure to grab a spot to watch early as the entire ship will be there. We’ll be the first to say that the payouts in a cruise casino aren’t that great. If you really want the best place to play, stick to land-based casinos where you can (sometimes) find better payouts.

The Camp Ocean program offers supervised activities for children aged 2-11, divided into different age groups. From arts and crafts to games and themed parties, kids can have a blast while making new friends. If outdoor sports are more your speed, Carnival Cruise has you covered.

During port stops, Carnival Cruise offers a range of excursions and activities to explore the destinations. Whether you want to go snorkeling, take a sightseeing tour, or indulge in local cuisine, there are options to suit every traveler’s interests. Your Scenic Ocean View stateroom aboard Carnival Glory provides the best view of the sea that lies ahead of the ship, with views unlike any on land.

Fun for your whole crew

And you'll get more of them, too, with floor-to-ceiling windows providing plenty of looking-glass for gazing at the natural wonders of the sea... If a massage or a facial isn’t your thing, you’ll definitely want to check out the Thermal Suite at the Cloud 9 Spa. This specially designed relaxation area has been developed to provide you with the perfect temperature, from dry heat to soothing moisture.

It’s important to note that while Carnival Cruise offers a vibrant nightlife and adult-only activities, the atmosphere is always inclusive and respectful. The crew on board ensures that all guests have a safe and enjoyable experience, and responsible drinking practices are encouraged. For those looking for a more relaxed and intimate atmosphere, Carnival Cruise offers the Serenity Adult Retreat.

It’s a fantastic way to go enjoy the ship yourself while your kids also have a blast. Ships sometimes have game rooms that are perfect for spending some time playing a game with your friends or family. We’d suggest bringing your favorite games from home (a pack of cards or some dice will do just fine in a pinch) as sometimes the ship doesn’t have any games in stock. Still, if you want a break from the heat and humidity, it’s a great option to spend some time with your travel partners and even make some new friends on the ship. Either way, ropes courses on Carnival ships will give you some excitement.

Your private stateroom is more than just a place to rest and recharge — see the comfy options available. Our ships sail to stunning destinations — see just where on the map we go. Speaking of pampering, there is no better place to treat yourself than at the Cloud 9 Spa. Offering a complete menu of massages, facials, body wraps, acupuncture and more, the therapists at the Cloud 9 Spa will help you truly relax and unwind.

As a sucker for soft-serve ice cream, I was a frequent visitor to the three soft-serve ice cream and frozen yogurt machines on decks 8, 16 and 17. Also on Deck 8 are Coastal Slice and neighboring Beach Buns, which respectively replace the pizza and deli counters found by the pool on most other Carnival ships. Unless you specifically request your cabin steward to come at night for turndown service instead of earlier in the day, your room will be made up in the morning. Hang the "SNOOZIN'" card on the outside of your door, and no one will bother you — but your room won't be cleaned that day. Dislikes for me include a shower door that opens toward you instead of into the shower, making the already tiny bathroom even tighter. I also didn't like the "SNOOZIN'" door hangers, which often got caught in my door when I closed it; I would've rathered a "do not disturb" button like many other new ships have.

What’s available may vary depending on which ship you sail, but overall, this is a great primer to what you can do on your vacation. The truth is, however, the vast majority of your time on a cruise is actually spent on the ship. Consider that on a 7-day cruise, you might have three ports of call. In other words, of the 160+ hours spent on a week-long cruise, only about 24 hours would be spent on shore. Whether you’re traveling with kids or with a group of friends, your cruise vacation is sure to be a blast. After you travel to a cruise destination like the Caribbean, Mexico, Hawaii or The Bahamas, you’ll soon be starting your own supermarket line conversations.

There, you can order any of the same coffee beverages you'll find at JavaBlue but in far less time. If you're feeling more like a cocktail, you can grab one of those, too. On my sailing, the bartenders were phenomenal and even remembered that I prefer non-dairy milk with my lattes. Found on the menu at the Golden Mermaid, it's a mix of gin, St-Germain liqueur, white cranberry juice, dragon fruit and lime juice. It was a bit too dry for me, so I didn't care for the taste; however, you won't want to miss the presentation, which involves a giant bubble atop the drink. Also in the space is Emeril's Bistro 717, a New Orleans-style, for-fee eatery developed by celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse.
